Bayly Lay was raised in the rural foothills of Oregon’s Eagle Cap Wilderness on a mountain ranch near the former town of Pondosa. She did not grow up painting and did not attend art school. Rather, her approach to the arts began in wild childhood, where she created her own mythologies in quiet outdoors. Being self-taught has allowed her to develop her unique technique instinctually. This lawless freedom is evident in her artistic style, which favors natural textures and loose, adaptive movement.



Bayly’s work speaks in motion, memory, and mirage. Inherited with her mother’s (renown artist Amy Lay) bad eyes, she devotes her impressionistic style to her innate love for a good blur and her devotion to unpolished truth.
