Pookie Blezard
Originally studying printed textiles at Camberwell School of Art, where there was a strong emphasis on drawing and painting from life, Pookie went on to set up the fashion brand Pazuki. (https://www.pazuki.co.uk/) Now, after decades of working in Fashion, she has come full circle back to painting. “There’s something magical about losing yourself while staring at a flower or still-life for hours.”
Living by Barnes Common in South West London these oil paintings often include wild flowers, twigs and grasses, or the tangle of flowers grown in her garden.
As well as selling her paintings she continues to design two clothing collections a year using the art to make the prints, sometimes using just bits of them, other times overlaying, or mixing them up together. Painting has become her passion, and the experience of decades of pattern making and working with colour is evident in the work.
