Suffolk Skies

A solo show by Dawn Reader

“Painting is but another word for feeling.” — John Constable

The skies of Suffolk have inspired artists for centuries — from John Constable to Alfred Munnings.

In ‘Suffolk Skies’, Dawn Reader continues this rich tradition with a new collection of 26 paintings that explore our county’s vast horizons.

Set in Newmarket, this collection reflects a deep relationship with the Suffolk countryside. The sweeping skies, open land and shifting light form part of the lived experience that informs each canvas.

Hopeful dawns, magical sunrises and spectacular, ever-changing skies unfold across the canvas, so evocatively that one can almost hear the wind moving through the trees and feel the early morning chill lifting as light dances on water and shape shifts through trees.

For anyone who knows Suffolk, especially those immersed in the world of the racehorse, our landscape is more than scenery. It shapes our daily rituals rhythm and identity. Dawn’s paintings capture that deep affection for this ancient countryside, its openness, unending skies and limitless possibilities.

This collection invites you to see yourself within the landscapes we love, to pause, reflect and wonder.
